Lewiston/ Auburn Maine Art Director Job Opening

Rinck Advertising, a full service advertising and marketing agency with international, national, super-regional, regional and local clients is seeking an Art Director for its Lewiston, Maine, office who constantly seeks innovation in the digital and print realm while not compromising on the creative and strategic execution.

The successful candidate must be an experienced Art Director with marketing agency experience who has a drive and commitment to produce innovative and creative ideas in both the digital and traditional space. S/he must be a problem solver, who takes a strategic and creative brief and looks to achieve the objectives with fresh thinking, constantly striving to step out of the box.

What we are looking for:

The candidate we are seeking must be a highly creative individual with a thorough understanding of video, copywriting, photography, typography, color theory, print and digital mediums. S/he is a teammate and mentor who looks for the team work atmosphere to bring out the best in every member of the creative team. S/he is an effective communicator with the ability to present creative concepts as well as oversee projects through to execution through communicating with the account team as well as the development team to produce the best possible product.

 

In addition, the successful candidate has the ability to:

  • Establish art direction, style and tone of communication
  • Propose/deliver world-class executions of innovative design across all platforms
  • Concept, collaborate and execute on overall campaign ideas while working on multiple projects, within time deadlines and prioritizing tasks for each
  • Work with minimum supervision
  • Be highly motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Be comfortable in presenting creative work to clients and internally
  • Have an organized and detail-oriented mindset

  • Be a team leader, but also a great team member
  • Coordinate and/or respond to requests from the various parties involved in projects (clients, project managers, design team, suppliers, printers, illustrators, photographers, writers, stock agencies, etc.)

 

Responsibilities

The Art Director is responsible for the design and production of advertising and marketing projects including print ads, collateral, environmental, experiential marketing, digital and social marketing. S/he will work directly with the creative team, oversee the conception and execution of client projects, and be responsible for remaining in alignment with the strategic objectives while effectively communicating the brand.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Strives to meet assigned deadlines.  Alerts senior art director/VP of Creative Services/traffic manager if deadlines cannot be met for any reason, or if an extension is required.
  • Strong verbal, written and visual presentation skills. Can communicate the value of design and brand within a design and business context.
  • Reviews all production materials on assigned projects, and signs off prior to forwarding job to traffic coordinator for further required approvals/outside production.
  • Writes copy/headlines/scripts as requested.
  • Art directs videos, photo sessions, audio tapings, press-proofing, etc., and supervises freelancers assigned to art director’s projects as requested by traffic coordinator/VP of Creative Services.
  • Meets with account executives/traffic coordinator/media as required to ensure timely, accurate completion of assigned projects.
  • Assists with new business presentations as requested by the agency Account Planner and/or VP of Creative Services.
  • Keeps VP of Creative Services informed of need to upgrade design-related computer hardware/software. Maintains said equipment/supplies for use in the creative department.
  • Has working knowledge of computer design software and hardware and strives to stay current in level of knowledge and abilities.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • BFA or MFA in Art and/or Design
  • Agency experience
  • 3-5 years’ design experience
  • Proficient in the following:
  • Mac
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Microsoft Office
  • HTML, CSS, Drupal, Jquery
  • UX/UI
  • Responsive Design
  • Digital and Print Design
  • A/B Testing
