Social Media Breakfast Maine
Rinck Advertising was given the opportunity to speak at the most recent Social Media Breakfast Maine. When a meeting involves bacon AND talking about social media, you know the New Media Department is going to be there!
We were also delighted to share our expertise with an audience of everyone from small business owners and nonprofits, to fellow media experts and vendors.
Because there is no point in paying for ads that aren’t going to engage consumers, Kristy Phinney kicked off the morning by taking the audience through the rules of engagement and the importance of content strategy.
Once we had the group on their way to create killer content I took them through why they needed to pay to play on social media, discussing the efficiencies and targeting opportunities.
I (Mariah Rinck) shared a menu of the different ad types on all the big players, that way the group could get a better understanding of which placements would fit their target audiences’ tastes best. We shared examples of real ads, as well as a few made up like our Puppy Snuggle Offer example.
We were lucky to share the SMBME stage with two other groups of presenters. It is always great to hear other experts and learn a thing or two from their experiences.
Katrina Crowell from flyte new media got into the weeds of Facebook mistakes and how to prevent them, complete with cat memes. She covered the importance of using Google Analytics and optimizing your ads, sharing some really great examples of her own campaign successes.
Another group was added to the meeting at the 11th hour to talk about their very recent success with paid social. And when I say recent, I mean they just developed this product in the last month and launched on Black Friday (7 whole days before the breakfast). John Turner, Chris Avantaggio & Nathan O’Leary had everyone's attention when they revealed CrateFull of Maine. This is a seriously cool new subscription service full of Maine made products, these guys are creative and smart!
You could see our Google Analytics expert, Lisa’s eyes light up when they talked about how they used analytics to evaluate who was most engaged on their website and then used that data to create a new more refined target audience on Facebook.
Thank you so much to SMB Maine for having us. Be sure to check out their website for future events, because you can never have too much knowledge or bacon!
